Measures:

• Large windows in sitting and dining room replaced with wood-framed double-glazed to look like originals, u=1.9 W m-2 K-1. All other original wooden windows replaced with uPVC double-glazed u=1.5 W m-2 K-1. New triple-glazed kitchen windows and back door with u=0.7 W m-2 K-1. New dormer windows constructed to modern building regulations with double-glazed windows.
• Kitchen extension to provide a new external wall with cavity insulation, 100 mm of Celotex, u=0.20 W m-2 K-1 approximately.
• Internal insulation on original exterior kitchen wall, first-floor bedroom walls and ground-floor front room wall, 100 mm of Celotex, u=0.20 W m-2 K-1 approximately.
• 200 mm Celotex beneath the kitchen floor, u=0.10 W m-2 K-1 approximately.
• 190 mm Celotex between and above the ceiling joists in the one-storey kitchen extension and the loft above the rear extension, and 125 mm Celotex between and below the rafters of the sloping ceiling of the rear extension (the room is partly below the roof)
• New brick wall built outside the original gable-end solid brick wall, area about 60 m2, containing 200 mm Celotex external insulation, u=0.12 W m-2 K-1
• 70 mm Celotex loft insulation between ceiling joists of top floor
• Multifoil insulation stapled to rafters in the loft
• Original basement floor replaced with a concrete slab including some insulation
• Nibe 12 kW air source heat pump with Honeywell Evohome controls and TRVs
• Solar water heating panel, NEG Suntube MP6-3000 evacuated tubes, 2.6 m2
• Solar photovoltaic electricity generation by 6 Sanyo 215 Wp panels (1.3 kWp total) and 4 Sanyo 235 Wp panels (0.94 kWp total)
• Wood-burning stove, Burley Hollywell 5 kW
• Low energy lighting throughout
• Low energy appliances throughout
• Water saving drop valve, which has a full and a half-flush, installed in one of the three WCs
