About

Discover a brighter, more energy-efficient future with SuperHomes: Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire, brought to you by the National Energy Foundation. Uncover the power of personalised, expert advice on transforming your home through retrofitting with a FREE retrofit plan. Find out more about our bespoke Home Energy Retrofit Options (HERO) Plan and take the first step towards a greener, more sustainable home.

SuperHomes: Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire is a project delivered by the National Energy Foundation and is operating in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire only. We are here to help homeowners understand how they can maximise the energy efficiency of their home to achieve greater comfort, cost savings and a reduced carbon footprint.

For a limited time, we are offering eligible homeowners a FREE home survey, conducted by a qualified Retrofit Coordinator, followed by a FREE bespoke Home Energy Retrofit Options (HERO) plan, worth £250. This plan will provide independent tailored advice and will help to identify the measures you could take to make your home as energy efficient as possible, including estimated installation costs, and your potential energy bill and carbon savings, post-retrofit.

The National Energy Foundation (NEF) is an independent domestic energy and sustainable housing charity who have been at the forefront of improving the use of energy in buildings for more than 30 years.

SuperHomes: Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire is a grant-funded project and is one of 36 Domestic Local Energy Advice Demonstrator (LEAD) Projects. The LEAD Projects are funded by the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero and are trialling new and innovative approaches to deliver local, in-person energy efficiency and clean heating advice. Specifically, this project is aimed at people who are most likely to benefit from the advice and people who live in homes that are harder to retrofit. The grant funding NEF has received is administrated by the Greater South East Net Zero Hub, a regional government-funded organisation that works with public sector organisations and their stakeholders, and will support the delivery of SuperHomes: Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire.

As the 2050 net-zero goal set by the Government looms closer, it is increasingly important to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible. The Government has announced that by 2035, it is likely that the majority of homes across the country will be unable to install a replacement gas boiler and will need to install a heat pump or other low-carbon alternatives. Therefore, we encourage homeowners to join our retrofit project and take advantage of the financial support currently on offer. As we move closer to these deadlines, grant funding may become harder to source, and so getting involved early may be extremely beneficial in the long run.

It is also more important now than ever to ensure your home remains comfortable in hot and cold weather due to the year-on-year record-hot summers and record-cold winters we are seeing. Retrofitting has the potential to increase your thermal comfort and reduce your fuel bills to give you peace of mind for the winters to come.

Furthermore, retrofitting reduces the carbon footprint of your home, and as domestic homes currently account for a fifth of the UK’s carbon output, retrofitting is crucial to tackling the climate crisis we face today.

Any progress we can make toward a greener future is a step in the right direction.

This service is currently only available to homeowners who live in Hertfordshire or Bedfordshire, and is prioritising customers who fall into ONE of the below categories:
